“Vintage Files” has been in the making for over a decade, as the track titles indicate – so this is surely not glory-hunting: Speakerdeamon proves a fastidious polisher of sounds, delivering an ambitious, high-class IDM release with occasional rhythmic structures and a generally tense atmosphere about it.

These eight short vintage files are recommended for off-the-reel enjoyment, with their tongue-in-cheek track titles making for a nice contrast to the aspiring sound design and the obvious diligence that went into this. From the vibrant rhythms in “Chocolata” to the dark glitches of “Filteristic”, from the bleak downbeats and samples of “Last Words” to the enchanting weirdness of “Expect something else”, not a straight face will remain with the electronic aficionados!
